Background
At the end of May, I introduced you all to Resist.bot and took a “Baby Step” where a few of us successfully joined an existing campaign, and sent letters to our elected officials. I tabled using it further because I didn’t like the vagueness of existing impeachment campaigns and it looked like there was a big learning curve and set-up to start a campaign. Now, I know it’s easy to start a campaign, and we have a very concise request: “vote to pass H. Res. 415, ‘Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors.’
Also, I received additional motivation from a guest speaker on Jessica Denson’s “Lights On” YouTube channel, Bruce Fein.
Motivation to Dive In and Do It
I was listening to Jessica Denson’s interview of impeachment expert Bruce Fein, and at one point, Fein said what really sealed the deal in forcing Nixon to resign was that:
Nixon at one time resisted complying with the court order to surrender the White House tapes to a grand jury. The American people wrote in 30,000 telegrams a day to Congress you're going to impeach him if he doesn't surrender those tapes…He backed down within three days.
Ah those were the days. One count of defying a court order, 30,000 outraged telegrams a day, and the enemy of our Constitution is out on the curb of Pennsylvania Avenue thumbing a ride with a little sign that says, “Pardon Me: San Clemente or West?”
Al Green is honest that he suspects he has no chance at all to get past a vote to table at this point, but gave evidence that he is making progress and will not stop. He chronicled that so far his previous efforts to impeach Trump yielded 58, 66, and 95.
Can’t we do much better than 95? If somehow all the 5 million+ No Kings protesters knew that texting PQJVVS to 50409 will dump 5 million demands for “Yes on H.Res.415, Impeach Trump” within hours, how many of them think we should wait a bit more?
At the very least, we ought to get every Democrat in Congress at this point. The people have had it with Trump. Republicans like Joni Ernst need to think hard now as well. Trump is on the ropes, like Musk was a month ago.
And Trump ought to think about declaring victory, resigning, and begging for a pardon he doesn’t deserve. Can you say Epstein? When is the next time Musk is going to go nuclear? And Iran? Think man, if you can.
